In many HPLC analyses, variations in column temperature can cause significant changes in storage. The oven precisely maintains the controlled column temperature to achieve optimal results. By maintaining the column temperature at a stable set point, more standardized results can be collected, allowing for better consistency and comparison of laboratory results. Furthermore, elevated temperatures can be used in many applications to decrease cellular viscosity and sample mass transfer and solubility, resulting in improved resolution and/or faster analysis speed. The PerkinElmer 200 Series family of column ovens manages the phase and temperature of the sample before it enters the column via a built-in preheater. This eliminates thermal gradients across the column, resulting in improved performance and precision. All heating and cooling is performed electrically, allowing sub-ambient temperatures down to 5°C without cooling liquid or refrigerants. The 200 Series oven/switcher allows automated switching of up to six HPLC columns via PerkinElmer's TotalChrom® data management software. This feature is extremely advantageous for method development in multi-user/multi-method laboratories.
