Cookie Policy

Below we inform you in a transparent manner about the operation of so-called cookies on this website (hereinafter “Site”).

Cookies are short text files (letters and/or numbers) that allow the web server to store information on the client (the browser, e.g., Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, etc.) for reuse during the same visit to the site (session cookies) or later, even days later (persistent cookies). Cookies are stored, based on user preferences, by the individual browser on the specific device used (computer, tablet, smartphone).

Similar technologies, such as web beacons, clear GIFs, and all forms of local storage introduced with HTML5, can be used to collect information on user behavior and use of services.

A cookie cannot retrieve any other data from the user's hard drive, transmit computer viruses, or acquire email addresses. Each cookie is unique to the user's web browser. Some cookie functions can be delegated to other technologies. The term "cookies" refers to cookies and all similar technologies.

Based on their characteristics and use, cookies can be classified into various types:

Strictly necessary technical cookies. These cookies are essential for the proper functioning of a website and are used to manage various website-related services (such as login or access to restricted website functions). Cookies last only for the duration of the current session, or they may remain for a longer period of time to remember the visitor's choices. Disabling strictly necessary cookies may compromise the user experience and navigation of the website.
Analytics and performance cookies. These cookies are used to anonymously collect and analyze website traffic and usage. These cookies, even without identifying the user, allow, for example, to detect whether the same user returns to the site at different times. They also allow system monitoring and improvement of performance and usability. Disabling these cookies can be done without any loss of functionality and will be discussed in detail below.

Profiling cookies (not operational on this site). These are permanent cookies used to identify (anonymously or otherwise) user preferences and improve their browsing experience. For more information on these cookies, which are not used by the Website, please visit the dedicated section on the website www.garanteprivacy.it/cookie

Purpose of processing and purposes of technical session cookies

The cookies used on the Site are used exclusively for computer authentication or session monitoring and to store specific technical information regarding users accessing the servers of the Data Controller who manages the Site. Therefore, some operations on the Site cannot be performed without the use of cookies, which in such cases are therefore technically necessary. For example, access to any restricted areas of the Site and the activities that can be performed there would be much more complex and less secure without the presence of cookies that allow the user to be identified and maintained throughout the session.

Pursuant to Article 122, paragraph 1, of the Privacy Code (in the wording in force following the entry into force of Legislative Decree 69/2012), "technical" cookies may be used even without the data subject's consent. Moreover, the same European body that brings together all the data protection authorities of the various Member States (the so-called "Article 29" Working Party) clarified in Opinion 4/2012 (WP194) entitled "Exemption from consent for the use of cookies" that the user's prior informed consent is not required: cookies with data filled in by the user (session identifier), lasting for a single session, or persistent cookies limited to a few hours in some cases;

  • authentication cookies, used for the purposes of authenticated services, lasting for the duration of a session;
  • user-centric security cookies, used to detect authentication abuse, for a limited persistent duration;
  • session cookies for media players, such as cookies for "flash" players, which last for the duration of a session;
  • session cookies for load balancing, lasting for the duration of a session;
  • persistent cookies for customizing the user interface, lasting for the duration of a session (or slightly longer);
  • Cookies for sharing content via third-party social plug-ins, for logged-in members of a social network.

The Data Controller therefore informs that only technical cookies (such as those listed above) are used on the Site. These cookies are necessary for browsing the Site and enable essential functions such as authentication, validation, session management, and fraud prevention. For example, they allow: identifying whether the user has regularly accessed areas of the site that require prior authentication, user validation, and session management for various services and applications, or storing data for secure access, or performing fraud control and prevention functions.

For maximum transparency, a series of technical cookies and specific cases of use on the Site are listed below:

  • Cookies placed directly on the user/contractor's terminal (which will not be used for other purposes) such as session cookies used to "fill the cart" for online bookings on the Site, authentication cookies, cookies for multimedia content such as Flash Player that do not exceed the duration of the session, personalization cookies (for example, for choosing the browsing language, recalling complete ID and password by typing the first few characters, etc.);
  • Cookies used to statistically analyze site access/visits (so-called "analytics" cookies) that are used exclusively for statistical purposes (and not for profiling or marketing) and collect information in aggregate form without the possibility of tracing the identification of the individual user. In these cases, since current legislation requires that data subjects be provided with clear and adequate information on how to easily opt-out of their installation (including any mechanisms to anonymize the cookies themselves), we specify that it is possible to disable analytics cookies as follows: open your browser, select the settings menu, click on internet options, open the privacy tab, and select the desired cookie blocking level. If you wish to delete cookies already saved in memory, simply open the security tab and delete the history by checking the "delete cookies" box.

Third-party cookies

When visiting a website, you may receive cookies from sites managed by other organizations ("third parties"), which may be located in Italy or abroad.

Examples present on most websites include YouTube videos, Google APIs, the use of Google Maps, and the use of "social plugins" for Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and LinkedIn. These are parts of the visited page generated directly by these sites and integrated into the host site's page. The most common use of social plugins is for sharing content on social networks to enhance the visitor's user experience.

The presence of these plugins involves the transmission of cookies to and from all sites managed by third parties. The management of information collected by "third parties" is governed by the relevant policies, to which you are advised to refer. To ensure greater transparency and convenience, the web addresses of the various policies and cookie management methods are provided below. It is specified that the Data Controller is not responsible for the use of third-party cookies on this site.

  • Analytics cookies
  • The Site uses the Google Analytics service, but IP anonymization is provided using the tools offered by Google. See Google's Cookie Policy for Google Analytics at the following link: http://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/analyticsjs/cookie-usage , and learn more about how Google – a third party – uses user data at https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245 .

    As clarified by the General Provision of the Privacy Guarantor on cookies of May 8, 2014, analytics cookies are assimilated to technical cookies when used directly by the site operator to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site itself: these are precisely the functions and purposes of the processing on this Site.

    You can still opt out by visiting the website http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en and performing the opt-out. It is also possible to deny consent and block third-party cookies via browser plugins by searching on Google for "block and delete third-party cookies". There are many guides that differ depending on the operating system and browser used.
  • Responsibility for the operation of third-party cookies
  • In this regard, reference is made to the provisions of the General Provision of the Italian Data Protection Authority on cookies of May 8, 2014: "There are many reasons why it is not possible to impose on the publisher the obligation to provide information and obtain consent for the installation of cookies on its website, even for those installed by "third parties." First, the publisher should always have the tools and the economic and legal capacity to take on the third parties' obligations and should therefore also be able to verify, from time to time, the correspondence between the third parties' declarations and the purposes they actually pursue with the use of cookies. This is made very difficult by the fact that the publisher often does not directly know all the third parties that install cookies through its website and, therefore, does not even know the logic underlying their processing. Furthermore, it is not uncommon for the publisher and the third parties to be interposed by entities acting as licensees, making it very difficult for the publisher to monitor the activities of all the entities involved. Third-party cookies may, over time, be modified by third-party providers, and it would be impractical to ask publishers to track these subsequent changes as well.”

    As indicated by the Privacy Guarantor, this Site does not have the ability to control third-party cookies if it uses third-party services (YouTube, Google Maps, “social buttons”) for which the third parties are solely responsible. Furthermore, the user is reminded of the possibility of deleting and blocking the operation of cookies at any time, including by using browser plugins and changing their settings as indicated in the various browser manuals.
  • Mandatory or optional consent for the use of cookies that do not pursue marketing purposes
  • It is not mandatory to obtain consent for the use of technical cookies, third-party cookies, or analytical cookies assimilated to technical cookies. Disabling and/or denying their use will make it impossible to navigate the Site correctly and/or use the services, pages, features, or content available therein.
